The Kigali Center for Photography, in collaboration with King’s College London is offering COVID-19 assistance grants of RWF 280,000 to five professional Rwandan photographers who have been negatively affected by the current pandemic.
These grants will support small projects creatively engaging with any aspect of COVID-19 and/or the effects of lockdown. Please note that activities should comply with current safety guidelines and should not put you or anyone else at increased risk. To apply please fill out the application available via this Google form before 17.00 on Monday July 20th. The Center will let the successful photographers know the outcome by Friday July 24th. We will ask the selected photographers to provide us with ten captioned images by Monday September 7th. For further questions please contact: [email protected] and [email protected] WOMEN’S EYE PROGRAM APPLICATION CALL , Deadline: January 26th, 2020 ( Extended to Tuesday February 04th ) WOMEN’S EYE is a Program by the Kigali Center for Photography, focus on girls and women in photography in Rwanda by providing skills and assistance in their career (Providing space for Creating and Exhibiting, Assistance on Projects and Access to Monthly center’s activities) The Kigali Center for Photography is the first and only center of its kind in Kigali which aims to remain an attractive hub for artists and activists through different projects and initiatives. It also aims to explore and promote Rwandan and foreign photography, support emerging Rwandan artists and explore beyond the medium. The Kigali center for Photography will provide 6 weeks’ free courses to girls / women interested in Photography and Visual culture. We focus on the group of girls / women who are passionate and willing to learn and start their journey in Visual storytelling , Every Class sessions consist of theoretical lectures, practical demonstrations with student participation, weekly assignments and constructive critique sessions. Basic Photography Course ( Use Code for registration : KCPB1 ) This course in photography is aimed at beginners and keen amateurs that wish to gain a better understanding of their equipment and greater creative control. Advanced Course (Use Code for registration: KCPA1 ) This Course is designed for those who already in Photography and have a basic knowledge of digital Photography and need assistance in their career.
