The Kigali Center for Photography and the Embassy of The Netherlands in Rwanda are organising a Photography Masterclass Independent Storytelling hosted by Michael Rhebergen at the Centre for Photography in Kigali on the 26th and 27th of June 2023 as part of our collaboration with World Press Photo and The Kingdom of the Netherlands.
This photography masterclass will provide a space for aspiring photographers to sharpen their skills as independent storytellers. How to turn your ideas into meaningful projects and build a sustainable freelance career as a photographer. A two-day masterclass in which you learn more about long-term project development, constructing a visual story, how you can apply for funding and create an audience.
The Participants will choose a visual project that they will develop during the workshop and this project will be supported after the workshop and will be presented as part of an exhibition in Kigali 2024.

ABOUT THE TUTOR
Michael is an independent freelance storyteller and visual researcher from Holland. He has worked in Rwanda since 2018 on several personal projects, of which his latest project has been developed into a theaterplay. His work is getting published by The Washington Post, National Geographic and De Volkskrant among others. He has published his first two photobooks and his work is exhibited in galleries and musea.
