Welcome to the exciting world of photography! Whether you're just starting out or looking to improve your skills, this beginner's photography course is the perfect place to start.
In this course, you'll learn everything you need to know to take great photos, from understanding your camera to composition, lighting, and editing. Our approach is to make learning photography fun and accessible, so you'll feel confident and inspired every step of the way.

8 week part time course is designed to provide you with the necessary skills to digital photography and basic knowledge on tools for editing , develop a portfolio of work and enable you to be assisted by a professional photographer under close supervision and mentorship.

    Registration Form 

    A non-refundable application fee of 65.000 RWF is required on submission of an application form. On acceptance, a registration fee of 100.000 RWF will be required to confirm the student’s place within the course. All payment must be deposited into the Photo center’s bank account and proof of payment provided within two weeks.
Course Outline:
Module 1: Understanding Your Camera
Module 2: Composition and Framing
  • The rule of thirds and other composition techniques
  • Using framing and negative space to create impact
  • Understanding color theory and psychology
  • Capturing emotion and telling a story with your images
Module 3: Lighting and Exposure
  • Types of lighting and their effect on your images
  • Understanding the histogram and using it to achieve correct exposure
  • Working with natural light and artificial lighting sources
  • Using flash and reflectors to enhance your images
Module 4: Shooting Techniques
  • Shooting in different modes (e.g. manual, aperture priority, etc.)
  • Focusing techniques and controlling depth of field
  • Shooting in different situations (e.g. low light, action, etc.)
  • Capturing different types of subjects (e.g. people, landscapes, etc.)
Module 5: Post-Processing in Lightroom
  • Introduction to Lightroom and its interface
  • Understanding the basics of editing (e.g. cropping, exposure, etc.)
  • Enhancing your images with color adjustments
  • Using presets and filters to speed up your workflow

Our approach to teaching photography is to make it accessible, fun, and engaging for everyone. We understand that learning technical skills can be daunting, so we'll break down the concepts into bite-sized pieces that are easy to understand. We also believe that the best way to learn is by doing, so we'll provide lots of opportunities for you to practice and experiment with your camera.

In addition to the technical skills, we'll also focus on developing your creativity and visual storytelling skills. We'll encourage you to explore different genres of photography and find your own unique style. We'll also share our passion for photography and inspire you to keep learning and growing as a photographer.
